Surf City

The beautiful town of Surf City is filled with breathtaking scenery. This small beach town is located on Topsail Island, NC, surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway (ICWW) and the Atlantic Ocean. In Surf City, both beachfront properties and sound-front properties are available for purchase, making this area a great place to live or vacation if you love being near the water! This unique ecosystem creates a special atmosphere in the town with private docks accessing the ICWW, recreation areas for children on the sand, and beachfront houses with palm trees. The town of Surf City extends off Topsail Island onto the mainland with properties just a quick drive to the public beaches and pier. This ideal beach town is complete with surf shops, local restaurants, and a public pier. As the name implies, Surf City is a great location for outdoor water sports. Surfing, boating, and fishing are popular here, and fishing off the pier is a town favorite.  

In 1948 the Surf City Ocean Pier was built, becoming Topsail Island’s first ocean pier. The 937-foot-long pier has been rebuilt on a few occasions due to Hurricane damage, but none the less it still stands strong today. The Pier Grill restaurant offers fresh food, ice cream, and an outside dining area. This pier was made for fishing and includes a tackle shop, plenty of fresh bait, two fish cleaning stations, and lights along the pier for night fishing. 

The recent economic growth in Surf City has led to the development of a new bridge leading from the mainland to Topsail Island. The new Surf City bridge was completed 10 months early on December 4th, 2018 and will accommodate the town’s recent growth by eliminating traffic delays. The previous bridge had to be opened and closed often for boats passing through the ICWW, while the new bridge's 65-foot vertical clearance will allow boats to pass beneath the bridge without causing a delay in traffic. This southern beach town Surf City is growing in size and ready for some new residents!
